Dr Paola Prete, PhD in Physics, is senior scientist and responsible of the Epitaxial Growth Laboratory at the CNR Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM-CNR) in Lecce, Italy and contract professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Salento in Lecce. Visiting scientist and contract professor at Glyndwr University, Wrexham, UK in 1996-97. More than 30-year’s experience in the field of materials science, her research focuses on MOVPE and MBE growth and spectroscopy of III-V nanostructures synthesized by bottom-up approaches such as core-(multi)shell nanowires for applications to nano-/opto-electronics, photonics, photovoltaics and quantum science, and on van der Waals heterostructures based on graphene and TMDCs. Author of more than 130 peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings, more than 240 contributions to International Conferences and 20 Invited presentations. Awarded by the Italian Association of Crystallography (AIC) the Young Scientist Prize for the Year 2000. Coordinator of AIC Crystal Growth Section and Italian Councilor for the International Organization for Crystal Growth (IOCG) for the term 2012-14. Editorin-Chief of the ISI-indexed journal Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology, SAGE/Wiley. Associate Editor of Progress in Crystal Growth and Characterization of Materials, Elsevier. She has been Chair of Intern. And National Congresses/Schools in the field. Advisory Committee member of many International Conferences, including SPIE Optics + Photonics, US.
