Petronela Pascariu is a scientific researcher working in the area of semiconducting (nano)materials produced by electrospinning-calcination techniques and electrochemical methods. She received a Ph.D. in Physics at “Al. I. Cuza” University from Iasi (Romania) in the field of functional multilayered nanostructures for spintronic applications (September 2011). Currently, she is an experienced researcher (CSIII) at the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry from Iasi, Romania. Her main scientific interests involve the design, synthesis, and investigation of nanoparticles, thin films and multilayers nanowires, metal oxide ceramic nanofibers based on ZnO and TiO2 doped with transitional metals and lanthanides, composites, polymer/inorganic nanoparticles nanostructures, with specific optical, electrical, photocatalytic and magnetic properties for use in various modern applications (photocatalysis, sensors, electronics and optoelectronics, electrochemical supercapacitors, etc.). She has authored/coauthored more than 65 scientific publications in ISI-rated international journals with H index=21 (according to Scopus) and more than 1450 citations. She was awarded the prize of the Romanian Academy “Cristofor I. Simionescu” in 2018. Starting from 2022, she is an associate researcher at Hellenic Mediterranean University, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Center of Materials Technology and Photonics, Heraklion, Creta, Grecia. Since July 2023 she is also a member of National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies – IMT-Bucharest, Romania working as an experienced researcher in the project PNRR/2022/C9/MCID/I8 CF23/14 11 2022 contract 760101/23.05.2023.
Dr. Pascariu is also a member of the editorial board of the prestigious international journal Surfaces and Interfaces (Elsevier).
