Viacheslav Z. BARSUKOV is Dr., Prof., Leader of the Electrochemical group at the Department of Nanoscale Carbon Materials for Energy Storage, Institute for Sorption and Problems of Endoecology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (ISPE NAS of Ukraine).

His present research interests include the development of new and recycling of existing materials for lithium-ion batteries, green technologies for the environment, air-metal batteries and fuel cells, hybrid supercapacitors, and electromagnetic shielding.

He graduated from Dniepropetrovsk Chemical Technology University, where he attained an MSc (1971), PhD (1974), and Dr.Sc. (1985) in Electrochemistry. He received the title of Professor in Electrochemistry (1992) from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, where worked as head of the Department for Electrochemical Power Sources from 1989 to 1998. From 1998 to 2022 he created and worked as head of the Department for Electrochemical Power Engineering & Chemistry at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

Viacheslav Z. BARSUKOV has delivered over 180 presentations at international conferences and has authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 10 monographs, and 32 patents. He was awarded 1st Prize of the Patent & Innovation Agency (PINA) Competition (Germany, 1994), Honor Diploma of Argonne National Laboratory (Chicago, IL, USA, 2003), The Queen Jadwiga Fellowship (Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland, 2004). He is the Honored Science & Technology Worker of Ukraine (Decree of the President of Ukraine of 20.01.2018), Laureate of the academic Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine in the Field of Science and Technology (Decree of the President of Ukraine of 30.11.2022).

He is a Member of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE); ISE National Secretary for Ukraine (1995-1997; 1998-2000); ISE Regional Representative for Ukraine (2003–2005; 2006-2008); a Member of the ICPAMS Association (since 2021); Fellow of the International Academy of Computer Sciences and Systems (Head of dept. for Modeling of Power Engineering Systems); Fellow of the Ukrainian Ecological Academy of Sciences.
